The Periodic Table of GOP Talking Points

Public discourse is now saturated with talking points engineered for advantage rather than accuracy — distortions repeated until they sound like consensus, fear marketed as analysis, bad‑faith framing dressed up as common sense. This table catalogs 82 talking points, sourced verbatim from RNC memos, NRCC toolkits, House & Senate Republican Conference messaging guides, and campaign documents. For each, it surfaces the underlying logical fallacy, a one‑sentence counter, a debate‑tested rebuttal, the primary sources behind the claim, and — where it exists — video of the rebuttal landing in real time.

Rebuttal voices: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Mehdi Hasan, Isaiah Martin, Dan Goldman, Gerry Connolly, Katie Porter, Sheldon Whitehouse, Greg Casar, the Tennessee Three, Cori Bush, Summer Lee, Delia Ramirez, John Fugelsang, Thom Hartmann, Glenn Greenwald, James Baldwin, Martin Luther King Jr., Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael), Marcus Garvey, Assata Shakur, and post‑Mecca Malcolm X.

A note from the creator

I built this for my partner, who told me she struggles to argue effectively against a well‑rehearsed political script off‑the‑cuff. She's not wrong—she's just up against a machine that's been refining the same rhetorical traps for fifty years. So I spent a weekend building the Periodic Table of GOP Talking Points.

My partner told me this is one of the most useful things I've ever made for her. It matches the way she thinks. That's all I wanted— to build a tool that meets the moment when you know something's off but can't pull the right response out of the air fast enough.

If it helps one person hold their ground in a conversation that matters, the hours were worth it.

I am not a Democrat. I recognize that in most of America we operate under a two‑party system, and the Democratic Party — flawed as it is — remains the only viable vehicle through which voters can force any compassionate policy. Democrats can be pushed, often reluctantly, by organized pressure from below. The Republican Party, however, made a deliberate choice after the 1971 Powell Memo to stop representing the public at large and instead serve a narrow set of corporate and ideological interests. Once insider trading was effectively legalized for members of Congress, the transformation was complete.

Fuck AIPAC and all foreign election influence. No foreign government — whether Israel, Russia, China, or any other — should have a lobbying arm that buys American politicians and dictates U.S. policy. AIPAC spends millions to unseat sitting members of Congress who dare to question unconditional military aid or speak up for Palestinian human rights, and they're not just in Congress — they're pouring money into local races too, like the primary challenge against Rep. Thomas Massie, a Republican targeted by AIPAC for refusing to rubber‑stamp unconditional military aid. That is not democracy. That is a protection racket dressed up as advocacy. The same standard applies to all foreign influence in our elections: zero tolerance, full stop.

For a deep dive into that history, read "How Did We Get Here, Really? The Fifty‑Year Project" by Total Hypocrisy. For the insider‑trading piece specifically, watch this short explainer by former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich:
